The Process:Step 1: Establish Your GoalsThe first step in building your web site is to determine your specific objectives; what you expect your site to accomplish: 1) Information or periodic announcements only 2) Promote increased sales 3) Introduce professional services 4) Market real estate or other sales endeavors 5) Demographics - reach outside your local area 6) Identify your franchise or independent firm with a link to your parent company or sponsor (Make sure your site meets specific requirements and obtain pre-approval by the parent organization) Planning Your Web SiteDetermine what you would like your site to reflect about you, your business or organization. 1 Let potential customers know who you are, what you do, and why they should contact you. 2 Utilize visual images to personalize your site with photos or graphics. 3 Create a dynamic presence - demand viewer attention. Your site should be well thought-out as it may be a client's initial impression. Make it interesting, informative, and attractive to potential clients or visitors, but do not clutter the introductory page with too much information as many web users may just take a quick glance and move to a competitor's site, rather than wade through a lot of technical information. Use additional pages and links to explain more detail about your business. 4 If you are seeking prospective customers, make sure you offer sufficient information, but keep it general to encourage them to contact you to obtain more details. 5 Let your viewers know how to contact you for questions or comments, and how to place orders. (i.e., a client response form, a toll-free telephone number, fax, etc.) 6 You may plan your entire site layout in advance, referring to our samples and pricing guidelines to determine approximately what your costs will be. When we receive your request, we may be able to offer a package that will be most cost effective to meet your needs. Select a Web DesignerAs the interest in web sites grows, so do the number of web designers. How do you know which one to use?
Quote and Layout ProcedureMake sure you understand clearly what you are buying, and what you can expect up front to avoid any "hidden" costs or surprises. Your web designer should provide you with a written quote specifically outlining all services that will be (or will not be) included.
Uploading to DomainEach site must have an accessible Internet "address". Most major servers provide web hosting as a part of their Internet access package. If not, we can assist you by referring you to a domain site host or we can simply link your site to Clyma Connections at a reasonable monthly rate to assist us in maintaining sufficient web space through our host. Our site is hosted by Host45.com, and our technical representative/consultant is an instructor at UCLA.
Updates and MaintenanceIf you plan to keep your site on the Internet for a while, it is essential that you keep it updated, or freshen up the look occasionally to continue to attract visitors. Websites may have seasonal graphics or schedules that must be maintained on a timely basis. No one will be interested if they look at a web site in June that still has last fall's pumpkins. Your site tells your clients a lot about you. Keep it up-to-date, and change it periodically to stimulate interest, if it means only adding a snowflake in the winter, or a new year's greeting, it lets your visitors know that you are still in business and are interested in helping them with theirs! Questions or CommentsWe trust this information has been helpful, and can assure you that Clyma Connections has the ability to create a web site that will reflect your individuality and promote your business. We look forward to hearing from you and hope you will contact us with any questions or comments you may have.
