In
the richly photographed book, The Art of the Birdhouse; Flights of Fancy,
Mike Dillon's talented artistry comes alive for birdhouse fans everywhere.
Shown high in a leafy tree, tucked in a garden corner, or in a lighted
studio setting, these eminently enjoyable mini-structures are sure to delight
bird buffs, gardeners and art lovers alike.
Captions such as "Birds of a feather," "Weathered friends," and "Egg timer" set
the inventive tone for The Art of the Birdhouse. From found objects
such as twigs and bark, to clever houses resembling eggplants and dancing
teapots, Dillon's birdhouses entertain, enlighten and educate others
in the construction and creativity of this emerging style.
Birdhouses often sit out back waiting to modestly shelter a purple martin
or a common sparrow. But, designer Mike Dillon's spectacular aviary creations
also provide aesthetic excitement for the bird lovers who own them. Multicolored
or rustic, curved or multistoried, these whimsical, yet functional birdhouses
are made of ecletic materials that utterly suit their surroundings. A beautifully
produced book, The Art of the Birdhouse, provides the perfect habitat for
Mike Dillon's incredibly imaginative creations.
